Safety Spotlight topic for February is Hazard Recognition and Response

The monthly Safety Spotlight topic for February is Hazard Recognition and Response.  As part of your Injury & Illness Prevention Program (IIPP), employers are required to conduct periodic safety inspections of their facilities in order to find safety hazards and make the necessary corrections.  It is recommended that these inspections are conducted quarterly.

To assist, attached are two sample checklists that can be used when completing self-inspections by your Maintenance & Operations personnel or other district staff. These specific checklists are not required.  If you already have an inspection report checklist in use at your agency, you can use that.

As a reminder, NCR updated the eligibility requirements for the 2018/2019 Matching Grant Program, to include submitting one self-inspection report accompanied by a schedule detailing when the remaining three (3) quarterly inspections will be completed this program year. If you’re interested in applying for the 2019/2020 Matching Grant Program, quarterly self-inspections will most likely be an eligibility requirement.
